About me

Asset 1.png

I am a materials engineer with a background in thin film processing, morphological characterization, and soft matter engineering. I’m broadly interested in tackling challenges related to polymer science and engineering that will have widespread technological and societal interests. I also feel a moral obligation to promote equity and equality across race, gender, and socioeconomic status in science and engineering and hope my teaching and outreach will help that. I hope to tackle problems like these in my future career.

Beyond science and education

Beyond my life in science and education, I am a husband, dog-owner, hiker/camper, writer and photographer. My wife is a teacher, who like me is from California, and we met while working retail in our hometown of Modesto, CA. Our schedules revolve around our dog, which ends up being a good thing, because he keeps us balanced and healthy, wanting/needing a walk outside whether it’s sunny and humid or wet and rainy or freezing and snowing. Hiking and camping end up being great dog-friendly outdoor activities, and we’ve tracked dirt into our tent from a few dozen campsite in nearly a dozen states. My hobbies of photography and writing provide a way to capture the beautiful landscapes that we see while enjoying the outdoors. We look forward to adventures ahead.
